The GiveMeaning Foundation offers a personal, engaging way of giving that captures the individual passions of small donors who – together – represent enormous power, goodwill and wealth. We call this the power of plenty.
The website, http://www.givemeaning.com/, comprises a network of free web spaces where charities and donors can create, search for, fund and build awareness for specific charitable projects. Individuals can give money, time, supplies or simply spread the word - whatever the project needs to accomplish its objective. This process gives rise to a self-identifying community around each project that grows quickly by word-of-mouth. Project beneficiaries may reside anywhere in the world, as long as there is an associated charity to accomplish the project goal and to provide progress reports to donors. Unlike charitable portals and other intermediaries, 100% of the funds raised by GiveMeaning are distributed directly to the charity working with each project; donors and charities are not charged any fees.
GiveMeaning provides donors with broad and searchable access to a large number of charitable projects, gives the option of anonymity, and always assures their absolute privacy, while enabling charities to communicate their ideas to potential donors without incurring wasteful marketing and fundraising expenses. As a result of the inherent word-of-mouth (“viral”) nature of each project, GiveMeaning has proved to be the most efficient and cost-effective means of engaging small donors. Although GiveMeaning’s project-based approach was launched only in September 2005, it is already being actively promoted by a growing community of bloggers throughout North America, and was rated one of the Top 10 Most Innovative Web Companies of 2005.
GiveMeaning was created by a small group of marketing, technology and charity specialists all of whom are bonded by a common desire to use their talents to make good things happen.
Completed projects include:
- Babz.givemeaning.com. Donors contributed more than $58,000 in just two weeks.
- carts.givemeaning.com: This charity, which supports the homeless, raised its entire winter funding budget in six weeks.
Donors Using GiveMeaning Say:
"This will change the way we give worldwide."
