Incorporation

Provincial and federal incorporations each require specific governing documents. Governing documents can be varied to meet the needs of your Benevolent Organization provided that certain items required by Canada Revenue Agency are included.

Important considerations include:

  • Appropriate jurisdiction: provincial or federal
  • Corporate name for your charity
  • Identity of the members and directors -- it is necessary to provide the full name, residential address and occupation of each member and director. The number of directors required to incorporate a charity varies by province.
    • Provincial (B.C.): A minimum of three directors (one of whom must be a resident of British Columbia
    • Federal: A minimum of three directors
